We achieve our mission through meticulous packaging, precise placement, and tenacious persistence. In fact, we are so dedicated to perfection in packaging and placement that we built it into our company name.

The asterisk refers to our obsessive approach to documentation. We pre-flag and aggressively address any items in our clients’ loan packages that might create pushback or a decline during underwriting.

This results in fewer questions, faster closes and more peace of mind for lenders and borrowers alike. We liberally utilize asterisks and referenced supporting documentation to precisely align lender and borrower interests . And when interests are aligned, approvals come faster, rates are lower, and terms are better.

It all starts with a short online application.  Within 5 minutes you'll provide our team with all the information needed to unlock your best financing options.

2: Consultation

Our team will reach out and walk you through available options. Then we'll hold your hand through each step in the underwriting process.

3: Funding

Once underwriting is completed, the loan closes. You receive the funds deposited directly into your company's bank account.

Where we come from

Our Origins

Asterisk Funding was born from decades in multi-national banks. This experience created a burning belief that financing could – and should – be done better.

Asterisk Commercial Capital was founded by three industry veterans, each with a unique skillset: business consulting, loan placement, and the messaging capable of closing big deals.

Decades of industry experience showed us that there was a better, more client focused way to provide commercial lending.  This burning belief led to the founding of Asterisk Funding.

Today, we work tirelessly to support the local businesses that make our country great.  We serve as consultants and advocates for our clients, creating custom tailored financing solutions that match the needs of these growing companies.

George Taylor II, Chief Credit Officer

George Taylor leverages more than 30 years of experience in banking, private lending, SBA financing, and financial advisory.

Over the years, he has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of multiple banks. Previously, he has held a wide range of roles in banks around the country including, Business Development Officer, SBA Manager, Vice President, Senior VP, Executive VP, and Chief Lending Officer.  Throughout, George and his teams have led their banks in SBA production.

 In the privact sector, he has held an equally broad array of leadership positions. These include serving as the President of an equipment leasing firm, President of a commercial advisory agency, President of the Colorado Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders, and Director of the Commercial Real Estate Marketing Network.

Today, George leads our client financing team as Chief Credit Officer.  He oversees the funding assessment process, client coaching, loan positioning, and lender negotiations.

Darrick Brown, Director of Business Development

Darrick Brown brings our clients 25+ years of experience as a banker, a business consultant, and private lender.

Darrick served clients in regional and multi-national banks, including years as a Senior Vice President at Wells Fargo Bank where he managed teams of 300+ bankers.  In addition, he brings extensive experience in the private lending space, including business development and VP roles with multiple lenders.  Throughout these roles, he specialized in commercial lending, team leadership, and SBA financing.

Darrick also has held high profile consulting contracts around the country,  providing commercial lending coaching for the US Department of Commerce  and state and city agencies in Texas, Colorado, and Illinois. 

In addition, he has served as a Director for the National Black Chamber of Commerce and Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce, as well as sitting on Denver’s African-American Leadership Commission and the Colorado Governor’s Minority Business Advisory Council.

Today, Darrick leads the business development team at Asterisk Funding, building strategic partnerships to better serve our clients.

Shane Walton, Chief Marketing Officer

Shane leverages over two decades of experience in messaging and marketing to position Asterisk clients properly in front of lenders.

In his academic, public, and private sector work, Shane has specialized in creating compelling messages that provoke action. Shane has taught at universities around the globe and served the US State Department as a Fulbright Scholar. In addition, he has has worked in the public sector, spearheading political campaigns at both state and national levels. 

He is the founder of Green Vine Marketing, a marketing agency helping clients to leverage the latest and most cost effective marketing techniques to rapidly attract new customers. 

In the commercial lending space, Shane serves as a primary instructor at the Commercial Loan Broker Institute.  He trains lenders and financial consultants around the country on how to market their agencies and their clients with banks and private lenders.

Today, Shane helps position Asterisk clients in the most advantageous manner with lenders, guiding our team in both messaging and package design.
